Wildlife Bytes Nikon D800 Review

Brolga Canon 5d mark iii

Recently the crew of Wildlife Bytes had the amazing opportunity to test a range of the very latest cameras to hit the market. The Nikon D4, Nikon D800 and the Canon 5D MKIII. While we only had the cameras for a short time we decided to provide some images rather than a review. Below are three samples taken form each camera.

Nikon D800 - Nikkor 400mm VR F2.8

Nikon D800 – Nikkor 400mm VR F2.8

Here is a great example of the combination of the Nikon D800 and a Nikkor 400mm lens. Look in the bottom left of this image for the original shot. The crop of the head and neck still holds amazing details even zoomed in. This photo is unprocessed and cropped straight out of the camera.

Wattle Bird feeding

Wattle Bird feeding. Specs: Nikon D4, 200mm F2.8, 1/800, ISO 1250.

In this example the Wattle Bird was captured in the early morning light on an overcast day. Using the amazing speed of the continuos high mode of the Nikon D4 we were able to capture with amazing sharpness and the D4 continuous high mode never looked like slowing down.

This image was captured at the same time as the D800 above however we did enhance it afterwards in photoshop to check for detail.
